Annie Fox for Teens... Hey, Terra!

Annie (AKA Hey Terra!) has been around long enough to have experienced a lot of what Life can dish out. But, it hasn’t been so long that she's forgotten what it's like to be your age. Check out some of the thousands of email questions teens from around the world have sent to Terra. You may learn something useful from her answers:

Sex and Sexuality:
“Am I ready?”

Hey Terra,

I'm a 19 year old and have been going out with my bf for the past 5 months. We frequently talk about our relationship, where it's going, etc. We also talk about sex. I told him that I'm not ready yet, and he said he will wait until I'm ready. The thing is I don't know if I'm ready. I mean I want to but I'm scared. Once when I stayed over his house we almost had sex, but he stopped and told me he doesn't want to force me into anything.

We sleep together a lot, when he holds me I can feel him getting aroused. He never does anything though. That makes me feel guilty because I don't want to make him wait. I guess my main question is how do I know when I'm ready?

Waiting

Dear Waiting,

You're the only one who knows when you're ready to have sex. If you're wondering or scared then you're not ready. Or if you're doing it because you don't want to "make the guy wait"... That's likely to lead to regret.

It's your life and it's your choice. Choose wisely.

Good luck.

In friendship,

Terra
