Real Friends vs. The Other Kind

Making friends is a life skill, but when do you learn it? It’s not in any school curriculum. Nor do parents often teach friendship rules beyond telling toddlers to “Be nice” and “Share”. Without knowing what makes a good friend, kids are vulnerable to hurt and disappointment. They are also unaware of how their own behavior can hurt and disappoint others. Annie’s Real Friends vs. The Other Kind workshops provide 4th-8th graders with exactly what they need to maintain healthy friendships.

Homework, social pressures, parent expectations, and an after school schedule that never quits. No wonder tweens and teens are sometimes even too stressed to think! As a result they often say and do things that they later regret. Annie’s workshops for middle and high school kids, help them understand what’s going on when they feel like they’re “losing it” and how to get back in balance so that they can be more in control of the choices they make.

Through her Advisory Program Development workshops, middle and high school teachers will learn that healthy stress management skill-building and curricula that support students’ social/emotional development, nurtures and supports teachers as well.
