“My best friend didn't invite me!”
Hey Terra,
One of my best friends is having her birthday and she said that she had to pick so many friends out of a hat because there's not enough room in the car for any more then a certain amount of people. But the thing is she invited someone who doesn't really like her over me. I'm not trying to be a drama queen or anything but honestly even her other friends think it's silly.Squeezed out
Dear Squeezed out,
I can certainly understand why you would feel hurt that your friend didn't choose you to come in the car for her birthday. If you can let her know how it made you feel without getting angry and nasty then you might want to do that. (It's a lot better to talk to her directly than to bitch about what she did behind her back, right?)
But here's the thing, you have an important choice to make that will give you a chance to show your true character: how about if you consciously choose not to make a big deal about this? I mean, yes it's a friend and yes she excluded you, but this is one day in your life. And you have much bigger things to do in this life than to sulk about not getting invited somewhere. How about doing something else that evening? Not to 'get back at' her, but to honor yourself for making the ethical choice of not getting bent out of shape (which isn't going to help the situation anyway).
